Novus aspires to become the first UK ethical digital bank, enabling our members to do well financially while creating meaningful social and environmental impact through their everyday financial and lifestyle activities. The company's vision is to become the world’s first Super App for conscious consumers by offering a wide range of financial and lifestyle products that align with the values of the rising segment they look to service.
Banking – giving members the tools (i.e. receive/send money, make payments, check balance/transaction history, set-up/track monthly budget & saving goals, connect other bank accounts) to manage their income better, while making sure that their money isn't used to support industries that harm our planet & society.
Lifestyle – inspiring members to live a more sustainable lifestyle by bringing them the most attractive sustainable brands through Novus' in-app marketplace and rewarding them via cashbacks.
Impact – enabling Novus' members to support the most pressing social/environmental issues through every interaction with the platform; starting by generating impact with every payment.
Despite clear growth in demand for purpose-driven products and services (specially from GenZ & Millennials), as well as an increase in awareness for the social & environmental challenges we are facing, there are currently no digital banking solutions in the UK focused on serving this growing conscious consumer segment.
The company's USP is developing an all-encompassing solution (i.e., with banking, impact, and lifestyle) for a specific target audience (i.e. the conscious consumer) rather than a one size fit all solution for the mass market.
Most digital banks target the mass market with a one size fit all solution and rely on the volume of transactions to generate revenues i.e. interchange fees paid by merchants.
At Novus, the focus is on a higher value and growth segment of the market (i.e. willing to pay extra for purpose) and plan to generate revenue at launch by:
(i) charging a fair monthly membership fee members – starting at £2-3 per month (management team is in the process of finalizing its pricing strategy)
(ii) receiving a commission negotiated with our marketplace’s ethical brand partners – 5% to 25% per transaction
(iii) the EU consumer debit card interchange fees – at 0.2% per card payment transaction.
